Investment Objective
The fundamental investment objective is to generate a reasonable rate of interest and dividend income while also providing the opportunity for moderate capital growth. The Portfolio invests primarily in securities of other mutual funds, with a greater emphasis on mutual funds with income generating potential. The Portfolio may also invest directly in guaranteed investment certificates, bonds issued by the Canadian or provincial governments and Strip Bonds. The fundamental investment objective may only be changed with the approval of a majority of unitholders at a meeting called for that purpose.

Portfolio Update
Quarterly Update

Overall, Canadian bonds generated modestly positive returns for the quarter. Both government and corporate bonds gained, with corporates outperforming their government counterparts. Corporate bonds continued to benefit from higher relative yields and strong company balance sheets, while government bonds benefitted as some investors continued to seek safe havens for their capital. The Bank of Canada (BoC) held the overnight rate at 1.00 percent in its December 4 policy announcement. It noted that third quarter economic activity was weak, but it continues to expect that economic growth, driven by consumption and business investment, will improve during 2013.
