Portfolio Update
Quarterly Update
Broadly speaking, stock selection hurt relative results, while sector allocation was neutral relative to the S&P MidCap 400 Index (C$). The industrials and business services sector was the primary detractor, as the Fund’s stock holdings failed to keep pace with their benchmark peers. Holdings in consumer staples and energy ended in negative territory, hurting relative performance. A significant overweight in health care also hurt, as did stock choices in information technology. On the positive side, the Fund’s limited exposure to utilities, financials, and telecommunication services proved beneficial.
