Recommended For
This Fund may be suitable for
medium to long-term investors
who are more interested in
income than growth, want to
maximize after-tax income and
are contributing to the income
component of a diversified
portfolio. Investors in this
Fund should be willing to
accept a low to moderate level
of risk.
Why Invest
The Fund’s focus on Canadian
dividends
and capital gains results in
more favourable
tax treatment than interest
income.
The Fund aims to provide
superior returns
relative to the investment
risk involved
and has been recognized by
some of the
mutual fund industry’s leading
analysts.
Portfolio Update
Quarterly Update
Canadian equities rose over
the quarter as investor
confidence continued to be
buoyed by strong policy
responses from the U.S.
Federal Reserve Board and the
European Central Bank. In the
Fund, financial stocks boosted
performance, due mainly to
good stock selection. Stock
selection in industrials and
materials was also good.
Energy stocks in the Fund
performed positively as a
whole, but stock selection
detracted from added value.
Underweight exposure to
preferred shares helped
performance relative to the
benchmark. The portfolio
adviser anticipates that
equities will outperform bonds
and companies that can grow
dividends alongside earnings
will continue to do well as
interest rates remain low.
