The fundamental investment objective of the Fund is to achieve long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in equity securities of companies located in the United States and other countries that are engaged in the research, development, production, or distribution of products or services related to health care, medicine, or the life sciences. Health sciences companies are defined as those companies that commit or derive at least 50% of their assets, revenues, or operating profits from the activities just described.
Benchmark Statement
Lipper Health/Biotechnology Funds Index (C$)
Recommended For
This Fund may be suitable for long-term investors who are contributing to the growth component of a diversified portfolio, want exposure to the rapidly advancing health sciences sector and willing to accept some short-term volatility for potentially higher long-term returns. Investors in this Fund should be willing to accept a high level of risk.
Why Invest
You can benefit from the expected growth in health care spending, research and development.

The Fund aims to deliver superior returns relative to the investment risk involved.

Portfolio Update
Quarterly Update

Stock selection was the primary driver of performance relative to the Lipper Health/Biotechnology Funds (C$) benchmark, while sector allocation was relatively inconsequential. On the upside, holdings in the life sciences, products and devices, and services sectors drove performance. Stock selection detracted from relative performance in the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals sectors, offsetting strong relative performance elsewhere. The Fund’s sector weights were relatively similar to those in the benchmark, though a slight overweight in the services sector and a small underweight in the biotechnology sector were beneficial.
